The Right Scrapbooking Software for Me

Although I like the traditional way of scrapbooking since any kind of digital scrapbooking can never totally give you the texture and feel of a “real” scrapbook page, the fun that you can get from doing it through a software can very much approximate the look of a real one.
Before I purchased a scrapbooking software, I did my research first. I studied the reviews on the web, tried downloaded trial versions and finally decided to narrow my search to the top 2.: Art Explosion Scrapbook Factory and Creating Keepsakes. I ended up buying CK since the computer software store I went to only ahve that one. I was not disappointed.
Amazingly, the Creating Keepsakes Scrapbook Designer software is not only for Scrapbooking! You can also make posters, gift cards, greeting cards, photo frames, handcrafted sets etc. etc.
Here some of the things/features that I believe one should take note of in choosing the right software:

  • Ease of use -I am a MS office user, so I would like the interface, menu and commands of a software to be similar to that. This makes the transition from the MS Powerpoint to CK Scrapbook Designer easier.
  • Lots of Graphics – I would like the software to have many selections of good quality graphics and cliparts. Another important thing is to see if they have nice coordinating pieces (paper, frames, embellishments).
  • Pre-made Projects – If you are just beginning to get the feel of doing digital scrapbooks, then pre-made pages will be very helpful. All you need to do is click the sample photo on the page then browse in your own gallery for the desired photo.
  • Saving the Project as… – Must be flexible enough to allow you to save your project as .jpg, .bmp, .png, .pdf etc.
  • Photo editing module – CK has a comprehensive photo editing feature. And you can actually edit your photos right from the scrapbook page instead of the opening up another program.
